Garbage Collection Rates: EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2023

Billing for garbage collection services is referred to as “tipping fee” and the current rates are:

In-Town Resident:                                                      $20.00 per month for 2 town cans

In-Town Resident (1 can only)                                   $18.00 per month for 1 can

Out-of-town Resident                                                 $30.00 per month for 2 cans

Apartments/Multi-Family Housing and Businesses:  $30.00 per month (the town recommends one can per apartment rental)

Payment for 1 year rental in-town 2 cans is:              $220.00 (one month free)

Payment for 1 year rental in-town 1 can is:                $198.00 (one month free)

Payment for 1 year rental out-of-town is:                  $330.00 (one month free)

Service charge for pick up of cans:                            $30.00

** The town will no longer offer discounts for auto-draft payments.

**If you paid for a full year rental prior to July 1^st, 2023, the new rate will apply when your total payment is expended.

Garbage Regulations:

• The town makes every effort to keep trash pickup on the scheduled days, but there may be circumstances beyond our control that prevent us from picking up on your day. Your trash is never purposefully missed.  If we do have to amend the schedule, or your cans are accidentally missed, you will not receive a refund for the day trash was not picked up. 
• All household garbage MUST be in bags and placed inside the town issued cans. Items sitting outside and/or around the can will not be picked up. We will not go into your yard and pick up waste that has been strewn about by animals or strong winds.  
• All animal waste must be placed in bags and placed inside the town issued cans. Cans with cat litter not in a bag, will not be picked up until they are cleaned out. 
• The maintenance staff has discretion to determine what can and cannot be picked up.
• Garbage cans with construction materials will not be picked up.
• We cannot pick up TIRES, CAR BATTERIES, OIL, PAINT, CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
• Garbage cans that are filled with dirt, water, and any other heavy materials will not be picked up.
• Garbage needs to be placed at the street/curb no later than 7:00 a.m. If your cans are not at the curb or street, we will not return to pick up your trash. It is your responsibility to place it out for the next week’s pickup.
• The town issued cans are property of the town.  They should be kept in good condition and failure to do so will result in additional charges to your account.
• If hazardous items such as hypodermic needles are being disposed of, they must be placed inside a “stick proof” container such as a 2-liter drink bottle, milk jug, or laundry detergent jug. These items may also be disposed of at the Life Saving Crew building or the Fire Department building.
• Trash service will be discontinued if payment of your account is delinquent after 2 billing cycles.  Maintenance staff will go by and pick up your town cans.
• If wish to re-establish trash service after default on your account, you will have to pay all monies owed to the town. In addition, you will need to pay 6 months in advance for your service to resume.

**** The town no longer offers free brush pick up. If you want to have limbs and small amounts of shrubbery removed, call Town Hall and we will give you an estimate for the pickup.
